PLEASE READ THE MESSAGE BELOW FROM LIZ TOBIN
To All League Members: Please read the very important message below from our Rules & Handicap Chair, Suzanne Garcia. The information is pertinent to all leagues and also has specific information regarding posting scores for the beginner leagues and those of you who may play the Blue Course at Eisenhower. We appreciate your attention and cooperation regarding these matters.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM
THE RULES & HANDICAP CHAIR:
Maintaining a Handicap - Requirement that all scores be posted
In order to comply with USGA requirements, and to maintain a valid handicap, it is essential that all members post all rounds of golf played under the rules of golf, provided the course meets the minimum yardage. It has come to our attention during a recent handicap peer review that some members are not posting their scores, even though they have participated in league play. Maintaining a handicap is mandatory in all of our non-beginner leagues and not posting all your eligible rounds creates a situation where your handicap is not valid. Please remember to post promptly.
Harbor Links Executive, Heartland and Cantiague courses not eligible for posting:
Please remember that USGA Handicap Posting Guidelines indicate that a course that is shorter than 1500 yards for 9 holes or 3000 yards for 18 holes, cannot be used in the calculation of an official handicap index. For members playing in our beginner leagues and those who play these courses outside of EWGA league play, please do not post scores played at these courses. You can (and definitely should) post all rounds played on appropriate length courses, but cannot use rounds played at these "short courses" to calculate a handicap.
Eisenhower Blue Course Women's Tees Temporary Rating
The Blue Course at Eisenhower Park added a new set of women's tees last year. The course plays considerably shorter than it did when it was rated by the USGA through the WMGA, which means the ratings reflected on the GLMS system cannot be used for posting purposes. Until the course is officially re-rated by the WMGA, we must modify the course ratings and slope when we post our scores to accurately reflect the fact the course is much less difficult at its shorter length. To do this, you must enter your scores manually based on the following "temporary ratings":
Front 9 Course Rating 33.9 Slope 113 Est. Yardage 2375
Back 9 Course Rating 34.3 Slope 117 Est. Yardage 2420
18 Holes Course Rating 68.2 Slope 109 Est. Yardage 4795
If you have any questions about any of these issues, please feel free to contact our Rules & Handicap Chair, Suzanne Garcia at sgarcia@optonline.net
Enjoy the golf!!!
Regards,
